Dear Reader,
Writing is like a blooming flower. It opens up to many ideas. Like a flower, it shares its beauty with everyone. Every piece of writing has its meanings and purposes. A writer expresses themselves through writing and lets the reader know them better. Writing and reading can allow a person to relax their minds of all the stressful issues in their life.
My writing process consists of brainstorming, usually done only in my head, and a few rough drafts. Most of the times when I write, I don’t even brainstorm. I tend to find myself brainstorming as I write. Revising my rough drafts is a hard task for me. I usually have my brother or cousin point out what changes should be made to my papers.
The pieces in my portfolio reflects who I am as a writer. It exposes my weaknesses and strengths to the reader. In the story I made that is similar to Rip Van Winkle, I was unable to make it as emotional as it should be. I did do a great job at emphasizing nature. For my PSA announcement, my weakness was not explaining the quotes to the audience well enough. For my writing prompt regarding uniforms in a business, I felt as if I was very persuasive. I enjoy writing the fiction story that is similar to Rip Van Winkle. I was able to let my imagination run when I was writing it. My favorite genre to write is fiction. When writing fiction papers I can write without thinking if it is realistic or not. It is a genre that allows my mind to brainstorm lots of ideas. The most difficult genres for me is non-fiction. I cannot use my imagination on that genre. Everything needs to be backed up with facts.
In the story about Madina’s 20 years, she was a teenager that had her own feelings. I love the part where I said the birds were chirping and playing in the bath fountains. In my PSA announcement, the quotes I picked were really good. It matched what my announcement was about. In my writing prompt, I had good usage of vocabulary and tone. I made it as persuasive as I possibly could.
After all I learned during this summer, my writing and reading skills have improved significantly. I have learned to interpret context that have a deeper meaning than what is written. For my future writing pieces I will be adding more detail and emotion in them.
